About Me

My photo
Susan Avis Murphy, AWS
Sandy Spring, Maryland, United States
I am a Maryland watercolor artist who maintains the ARThouse Studio School, a teaching studio and gallery located at 17520 Doctor Bird Road, Sandy Spring, Maryland. Please stop by if you are in the area! I have been painting with a focus on watercolor for 35 years. For more information, please email me at susan@susanavismurphy.com. Learning to paint in watercolor is a difficult task, and the beginner is often discouraged with results that look like a muddy mess. My approach to painting is effective because I advocate the use of "liftable" pigments that can be selectively removed from the paper at any time. An image can be developed this way, plus mistakes can easily by fixed. Visit my website at www.arthouseart.com for a list of liftable pigments.
